How Do We Prevent Carpenter Ants From Invading Our Home?

My husband cut down a dead tree in our front yard. As he was cutting it down, he found that it was infested with carpenter ants. He left the stump in the ground for now because we heard that the carpenter ants may move into our house if we get rid of the stump. What is the best way to exterminate the colony and prevent the ants from moving into our house?

If you want to exterminate the colony I would strongly recommend a termite pesticide, consult with a sales associate at Home Depot or Lowe’s they should be very help full. There are also dust that are very effective as well.
Once you exterminate the ant colony you want to protect the house.I would buy some Home Defense as already suggested. Home defense is a pre mixed insecticide in ready to use container equipped with a spray nozzle and a pump great stuff.apply as directed.
You should also check windows and doors to make sure they have a good seal.If you see any gaps use a clear silicone caulk. Remove any debris from around house insect will harbor there. You should also trim back any plants or trees, the insects use them as ladders they climb quite well.
Carpenter ants do not eat wood they simply tunnel living spaces in it.
