Borax is a real cheap detergent (about 2.97 a box at walmart) It looks similar to baking soda. I found this on multiple internet sites. I made this up just to see what would happen andI mixed Borax, sugar and Washing soda (not the same as baking soda) together in equal parts and in 24 hours all the ants were gone. Also, I have read to draw a chalk line through their track in and out and they won't cross it. I don't know if this works though. I put chalk in my garage and couldn't see them coming in after that. No more dens outside after I lightly sprinkled each ant mound with my mixture. The web said they would take the sugar and the other stuff into their den and feed it to the queen thinking both were sugar. The borax would kill her though and by that kill the entire colony.
