Little red ants. At least that's what I call them. Haven't had any problems so far this summer. Now that I said that all hell will break loose.
I know what you're talking about. They seem to come out of no where. I have purchased a product that works super at getting rid of the little bugger's, Comes in a plastic jug with a sprayer attached. Forgot the name, but it can be purchased in lawn and garden.
I sprayed (actually comes out in straight line) the foundation of our house outside and then went inside and did the same. Sprayed floor boards in the kitchen, dinning room, upstairs and downstairs bathrooms, all outside doors. Even sprayed a few window ceil's. I wanted to be sure I covered every thing. Like I said it's very easy to use and is pet friendly so you don't have to worry about that. It sure did the trick. NO MORE ANTS, Didn't have to do it again later.
My brother told me about this and I took his advice..Glad I did. Before that I was using spray cans. Didn't do the trick. I'll never us any thing else again. Beginning to sound like an add.
Go to home and garden center in most stores. Tell them your problem and they'll set you up.
Hope I've been some help.

They sound like what we call grease ants.. Do you have pets? If so check their food to see if they are going for that. Otherwise give your floors a good cleaning and do not wax them as that too, is an oil they love to eat.

I'm not sure if they are the little red bugs I'm thinking of, but they stain red ....also, very interesting, If you got one on a piece of paper, you can trap it in a maze written in pen because they will not cross a line of ink. Very cool!

They are called "Argentine ants" I hv tried it, just sprinkle some salt at your kitchen counter or any place where these ants roam around you can also try an effective homemade spray consists of a solution of granulated white table sugar and boric acid:
1/4 teaspoon boric acid powder
3 tablespoons water
1 tablespoon sugar
The boric acid will dissolve only if the water is hot, or one can mix the ingredients cold, then place the container in a microwave oven to bring the water to boiling temperature.

They sound like sugar ants. There's a product that you can find in the grocery store near the Raid that's just called "Ant Kill" (white bottle with red cap). Put a few drops on a paper plate on your kitchen counter top and they'll come and get it! It's basically boric acid mixed with something sweet to attract them. If you can't find a product like this you can just buy plain boric acid (it's a white powder) and mix it with some honey. It should kill 99% of them with in 2-3 days. This will work with bees also! I have small children so I could never put this stuff on the floor, but you can put it on a high counter or window sill... spend a few minutes and watch the areas where they're coming from and decide on the best or closest place to put the bait. Good luck!
