Here are a few points to consider...
1. Ants are like any other animal; they require water. If your waterbed has any condensation or even a pinhole leak then the ants will find it.
2. Ants also require a food source. If you eat in or near your bed you are inviting an infestation.
3. If the ants are coming in through multiple entry points, and if they are carpenter ants, then you have a major problem.
4. The quickest way to see if they are carpenter ants is to find a dead one (not squished) and examine it with a magnifying glass. If you see one or two "spikes" on the thin connector between the abdomen (the bulbous rear end) and the thorax (the "chest" where the legs are connected to the body), then you do have a carpenter ant infestation. There are many, many varieties of carpenter ants, varying from small yellowish ones to the common big black ones. The one thing they have in common is the "spike" I previously described.
If you do have a carpenter ant infestation, call a professional pest control service. It's not as expensive as most people think.
