User Ratings and Reviews

5 Stars Love it, love it, love it!
I'm very, very pleased with the Dynatrap. I love that it's low tech, simple, and quiet. I agree that it catches moths. In the morning I open it up and set them free, along with anything else hardy enough to survive the night. The mosquitoes generally are all dead, although I needed to squish one tough momma this morning.

And I see many, many mosquitoes among the victims. Although I'm no entomologist, they appear to be our newcomer, the asian tiger mosquito - tiny, fast little buggers that don't have the courtesy to wait until dusk to make our lives miserable.

I catch beetles in groups of one species at a time. I guess when they swarm near it, they get sucked in. The first day, a couple of Japanese beetles. This morning some tiny little ones. They generally survive one night in the trap, so if you're dumping out moths daily, be ready to crush the beetles if you care. They're disoriented and slow, but still alive.

I am using Flowtron Mosquito attractant in mine, and am leaving the light bulb in, although I probably won't bother replacing it when it dies.

I don't know about the power consumption aspect of this, but it appears to be quiet enough to keep in a closet to protect your clothes. Much cheaper than cedar, but not as cheap as sticky traps, of course.

It might even work at a campsite with a jump-starter as an A/C source.

4 Stars relief from gnats
We have a perpetual problem with gnats in our rural community. My grandchildren will not even go outside. They are tormenting. We still have them but at least around the patio and immediate area, there is a relief from them essentially - one or two from time to time but not the tormenting of a swarm. I noticed the results after a few days. Thanks.

4 Stars Good Solution for Catching Flying Bugs
We seem to get mosquito's year round (No Cal. Bay Area with many vineyards nearby) and purchased this product last fall. It seems to do a great job in catching tons of fruit flies and a fair amount of mosquito's - not too bad on the "good" bugs. The radius from which it attracts seems to be less than the claimed 1/2 acre but I can't verify that...seems like I might need to add a couple more units to knock out the mosquito's completely. Very quiet operation and the bulbs have been going 24/7 for over 6 months and still working. The only drawback to this unit is the catchment method - to empty the unit (as noted by another reviewer) turn it off and place it tightly in a plastic bag over for 24 hours - otherwise any live ones will start flying out! A solid 4 Rating.

1 Star Don't buy this piece of junk.
This thing does not work period with or without the light, not even with the attractant. We tried it in numerous sites indoors & out, but caught nothing except a few little moths in over a weeks time. Also, be sure to check the seller's return policy--some only allow a short time to set up a return--5 days in our case. So now we are stuck with a useless piece of junk & out of almost $100. Save your money or buy a Flowtron 80 bug zapper--they really work & the attractant even makes them better. If this didn't work on Okla. mosquitos, I doubt if it will work on yours either.

5 Stars Feed the fish with the caught bugs
I love this product. Yes it does catch some moths and other bugs. I empty it into my pond every couple days and the fish get a natural feed. I'm getting another one after using one for a year. I really like this product and it doesn't cost hardly anything to run it. We even put a meter to measure how much power it took and it was like 1 dollar to run the thing for a month.
